La Gloria Brooks
Acclaimed chef Johnny Hernandez’ La Gloria Brooks City Base-area restaurant, offering a new menu of authentic, Mexican Norteño-style mesquite-grilled meats, is a Southside sensation.
Featuring vibrant interiors, this La Gloria evokes the feeling of a traditional Mexican cantina filled with colorful custom folk art. With soaring ceilings, enormous windows, tiled walls, open bar and kitchen areas, sprawling patios and three fiery mesquite asaderos (or grills), placed indoors and out, this fun Southside spot offers a lively casual ambience.
Overlooking spacious lawns, ancient oak trees and colorful yard art, La Gloria Brooks enjoys a breezy, festive setting. Instagram-friendly spots with colorful Mexican metal-statue figures and flowers invite good photos and good times.
At La Gloria at Brooks, Chef Johnny and his team prepare mesquite-grilled meats and fish dishes made popular at his former Alamo Quarry-area El Machito restaurant.
With an array of tasty carnes asadas, Chef Johnny showcases the unique flavors of northern Mexico, including fresh Gulf fish and shrimp, Peruvian- and Mexican-inspired ceviche, handmade chorizo verde and longaniza sausages, half-chickens, quesadillas al pastor, mini-tacos, and house specialties like Arrachera en Adobo skirt steak and Camarones Agua Chile (spicy shrimp). La Gloria also honors the classics, with dishes like traditional Mexican enchiladas with rich authentic sauces, fresh guacamole, salsas, queso and sizzling skillet queso fundido with handmade tortillas and tortilla chips.
Signature and specialty cocktails, high quality tequilas and mezcals, and traditional Mexican desserts complement the exciting dining experience.
Come enjoy a fiesta of flame-grilled, El Machito-inspired fun at San Antonio’s Southside La Gloria Brooks location.
